KANDI

Chinese company wants to sell electrified models almost for free in the US

While the world dreams of a cheap Tesla electric car, Chinese company Kandi is preparing to sell the K27 and K23 models in the United States, whose cost, considering the state subsidy, is 3,000 and 2,500, respectively. That is, the Kandi K27 and K23 are the most affordable electric vehicles on the American market. Both new items will go on sale this month.
For comparison: the basic version of the Nissan Leaf in America sells for 2,000, the Tesla Model 3 is estimated at 5,000, and the Toyota Prius will have to shell out 8,000.
Kandi's plans to enter the US electric vehicle market were first announced at the beginning of last year. The company then received permission from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) to import K27 and K23 into the United States. After that news, its shares rose 350%.
As for the cars, the compact Kandi K27, from some angles, resembles the small Kia Soul, and its front end with large round headlights is similar to the Mini Cooper.

The car is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 17.69 kWh, a sufficient charge for 161 km. The Kandi K23 is bigger and looks like a small crossover. Its battery capacity is also greater - 41.4 kWh, the range is 180 miles (about 290 km).
Initially, the Kandi K27 and K23 will be sold only in Dallas. However, in the next year the company hopes to expand the geography of its presence to other states.
