TESLA

Model line will walk underground

The boring company Elon Musk confirmed the use of Tesla Model S, Model X and Model 3 in its new Loop Tunnel. Gradually, several projects by The Boring Company are approaching implementation, and the concept begins to become clearer. Elon Musk admitted that he founded the company as a joke, but now it has become serious and has taken on some major transportation projects.
The goal has always been to build tunnels, but The Boring Company has changed its strategy several times when it came to how the transport system works inside the tunnels. Now that the first project in Las Vegas will be completed in the coming months, the company has released more detailed information about what it calls the "Loop" in relation to it.
The idea is to use electric cars with autopilot for fast movement in narrow tunnels. For the project in Las Vegas, plans for using Tesla cars were mentioned earlier, but so far it has not been confirmed which ones (it was assumed that Tesla still creates a special vehicle for that purpose).

The Boring Company has now updated the FAQ section on its website and posted information about the vehicles it plans to use:
"The Loop is a fully electric, high-speed, emission-free underground public transport system, in which passengers are transported by autonomous electric vehicles (AEV) compatible at speeds of up to 240 km / h through tunnels between stations. AEVs are Tesla cars (models S, 3 and X) that work autonomously in a Loop system. ”
In addition, the startup released several new conceptual images of three different projects for its stations: terrestrial, underground and underground outdoors. Given that these conceptual images and references to the S, 3 and X models arrive at exactly the time the company is working on completing a project in Las Vegas, this system will likely be applied there. The Boring Company plans to complete the project by the end of the year.

There are some questions about Tesla cars. For example, as these cars operate completely autonomously in tunnels, must they have a steering wheel? In addition, there are rumors that Tesla is manufacturing a 12-seater electric van for The Boring Company project, although the automaker has not confirmed this.
