911 TURBO 2021: 580 HP TO ENJOY
It was during this year's Geneva Motor Show that the Zuffenhausen brand unveiled the new Porsche 911 Turbo S 2021, the highest performing version of the German sports car's eighth generation line. However, the model arrived without its smaller brother, the Turbo access option that now, four months later, has finally been revealed. Here is the Porsche 911 Turbo 2021.
Over the 45-year history of the Porsche 911 Turbo, there have been a multitude of versions divided into the different generations of the model. However, the last to arrive represent the highest standard in sportsmanship, performance and performance. And this is the fault of Porsche engineers, committed to creating the ultimate super sports car, a mirror that the competition looks at when developing its vehicles.
Starting with the propulsion system, the Porsche 911 Turbo 2021 debuts with a new 6-cylinder, 3.8-liter twin-turbo boxer engine that develops a maximum power of 580 hp and a torque of 750 Nm, now available without an overboost time limit. This new generation offers an increase of 40 hp and 40 Nm in relation to its predecessor, and has a PDK transmission with double clutch and eight speeds together with a total traction system.
In this way, the 911 Turbo 2021 is now able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 2.8 seconds (0.1 seconds more than the Turbo S), with a top speed of 320 km / h (10 km / h less) . The new engine includes a redesigned turbo cooling system and piezoelectric injectors that improve response, torque, performance and its ability to spin.
Customers can also equip an optional sports exhaust system, as well as two different chassis options. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is available as standard, with a wider range of configuration possibilities, a tighter fit and electronically controlled damping that lowers the body height by 10 mm. Optionally, the anti-balance active hydraulic system (PDCC) and the ceramic PCCB brakes can be equipped with fixed ten-piston calipers for the front axle.
As standard, the new Porsche 911 Turbo 2021 features 408 mm cast brake discs at the front and 380 mm at the rear, bitten by red-colored calipers. These powerful brakes are covered as standard with 20-inch wheels on the front axle and 21-inch wheels on the rear, with tires measuring 315/30.
Aesthetically speaking, the new 911 Turbo 2021 has a 45 mm wider body in the area of the front wheels to be coupled with the new chassis, while the new hood print accompanies the LED headlights with PDLS Plus as standard. The width on the rear axle has been increased by 20 mm. Another outstanding element of the new 911 Turbo is its improved active aerodynamics, which electronically controls the front cooling screens, has a new active and larger splitter, incorporating a new, larger extendable rear spoiler.
The inlets on the rear side panels draw in air from the outside, while the intercoolers have now been placed under the flow of air that enters through the rear hood screens. The continuous LED strip, which goes together with the taillights, as well as the new rear hood with silver blades, complete the exterior style.
Regarding the interior of the 911 Turbo, elements appear that correspond with the rest of the 911 Carrera versions, such as the Porsche Advanced Cockpit and the Direct Touch Control. The central screen is 10.9 inches and comes with the sport electric seats with 14 adjustments, Sport Chrono, a multifunctional GT steering wheel with paddle shifts, a driving mode selector and a BOSE sound system. Porsche also worked on personalization and driving assistants, which come together within the Porsche InnoDrive.
As an option, customers will be able to access the Lightweight Design and Sports packs. The first manages to reduce weight by 30 kg thanks to the new lighter bucket seats, the elimination of the rear seats and part of the insulating material. On the other hand, the Sports Pack adds to the elements of Sport Design black and carbon details, in addition to the rear optical group with exclusive design.
