MERCEDES-BENZ

FOR 25 YEARS THE VICTORIOUS E-CLASS LINE CAME TO THE MARKET

A new generation of E Class began its successful journey a quarter of a century ago. In 1995 Mercedes-Benz introduced the W210. It was the first time that the E Class looked at the world with its double headlights and quickly received the 'Red Dot' design award.
The W210 hit the market in three finish lines: Classic, Elegance and Avantgarde.
The model's equipment included systems such as the electronic traction control (ETS), the force limiter of the safety belt, the side airbags - world premiere in this segment - and if it were not enough, the rain sensor and headlights. Xenon were also available as optional equipment.

The W210 model came with Xenon headlights

The W210 started in 1995 with the E 200, the E 230, the E 280, the E 320 and the E 420, as well as the E 220 diesel, the E 290 turbo diesel and the E 300 diesel.
The power offered started at 95 hp from the E 220 diesel to 279 hp from the E 420. During the Frankfurt Motor Show 1995, celebrated in September of that year, Mercedes-Benz presented the top of the line: the E 50 AMG had 347 hp .

During its commercialization period the model continued to modernize and versions such as the innovative E 220 CDI with direct common rail injection arrived in 1998 and the E 200 Kompressor in 2000. From 1997 the M 112 and M 113 V. arrived.
The 'Estate' van version was presented at the 1996 Geneva Motor Show as the model with the highest cargo volume in its class. With 1,975 liters of luggage space and automatic leveling control of the rear axle, the model could also optionally accommodate 7 passengers.

In June 1999, the E Class E W210 received a facelift that added touches and equipment. Although more than a million units have been sold since its launch, the subtle redesign increased the model's generous equipment, expanded safety features, expanded ESP, front side airbags and curtain airbags. The rear side airbags appeared as an option.

In addition to the sedan and estate, the Mercedes-Benz W210 could be ordered in other versions. With an extended wheelbase of 737 mm and the corresponding reinforcements, the model served as the basis for ambulances and special protection models with B4 shielding on the E 320 and E 420 / E 430 and B6 on the E 420 / E 430.
In January 2001, Mercedes-Benz introduced the E Class W211 after selling 1,374,409 units of the W210.
