ALFA ROMEO

THE BRAND NEW ''B-SUV'' HAS NO NAME

There are still three years to go before we can see the production model of the new B-SUV that Alfa Romeo is preparing to enter the Premium market with more arguments, and try to win over customers with a purely Italian design, although much of the technical part will be French.
The new Alfa Romeo will be the real first model to adopt a Groupe PSA platform, so it will also be the first fruit of the new cooperation alliance. Meanwhile, in addition to the exterior and interior designs being generated, the commercial name that will be the third SUV of the Italian brand will also be discussed.
The brand has two very prominent names on the table, each with its own qualities and for which there are divergent opinions. The one that will be the model of access to the brand's SUV line may be called Brennero or Milano. There are more supporters of using the first name, since it is a 'Mountain Pass' more than the many that exist on the roads of the Alps and the Apennines, as are the Stelvio Pass and the Tonale Pass, and what it means to continue with this succession of names that, interestingly, range from lower to higher altitude.
But there are also others who bet on the great capital of Italian fashion: Milano, as the city is known by the residents themselves. A name that evokes the urban character of the new model, and that would also be a new opportunity to shine on the back cover of one of the new Alfa Romeo, after having been considered very seriously during the development of the Giulietta.
For more than a decade, Giulietta, as the model was finally called, formerly better known as 149, following the trend of numerical names, which changed to proper names. At the time, Milano was one of the names chosen for a while, until they chose Giulietta. The name Milano was also used for the defunct Alfa 75 sold in the United States.
