AUTONEWS

Carlos Ghosn unleashes the word against Nissan

In his first appearance since he fled Japan, the former president of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, Carlos Ghosn, reinforced his innocence on Wednesday (8) during a press conference in Beirut, Lebanon. Businessman said he expected more help from the Brazilian government.
"This (escape) was the hardest decision of my life, but I was facing a system in which the conviction rate is 99.4%, and I believe that that number is much higher for foreigners," Ghosn said, about the choice of escaping from Japan. Ghosn said that "human rights principles were violated" with his arrest and Japanese justice deprived him of his defense documents.
For him, the reduction of Nissan's performance in early 2017 caused a persecution against him and the Nissan Japanese wanted more autonomy. "Some of my Japanese friends thought that the only way to get rid of Renault's influence on Nissan was to get rid of me," he said.
Among the evidence presented during the interview in projection, Ghosn spoke about the houses in Lebanon and Rio de Janeiro. The entrepreneur said that" there is no secret " about the residences and that they are owned by Nissan.

I expected more help from Brazil
According to Ghosn, President Jair Bolsonaro would have said that he would not comment on the case (of Ghosn) and would not speak to the Japanese authorities to "not disrupt the investigations". His wife even asked Bolsonaro for help.
Asked about the relationship with the country and the positioning of the president, the businessman said he does not like that kind of statement, but that he respects it. However, he pointed out that he "expected more help from the Brazilian government".
He, however, highlighted the help of the Brazilian consul in Japan. “He was very friendly, very sweet. He took care of me, John of Mendonça, he treated me very fondly."
