Snaked-up Shelby F-150 is as powerful as the Mustang GT500
Two years ago, Shelby unleashed what might have been its most powerful pick-up truck in existence, the 750 horsepower F-150 Super Snake. Packed with a 5.0-liter supercharged V8, this particular beast has 300 PS more than the Ford F-150 Raptor, and was only limited to 150 examples.
Fast forward to present day, and Shelby has one-upped themselves once more. Say hello to the menacing Shelby F-150 Super Snake Sport, an even faster version of the muscle truck that benefits from more power, upgraded suspension and brakes, as well as a cooler-looking exterior.
At the heart of this Shelby is a 5.0-liter supercharged V8. While it may be similar to the Super Snake's engine released two years prior, this one makes 770 PS thanks to an uprated supercharger and internals. This makes this particular F-150 have the same horsepower as the Shelby Mustang GT500 With it, the F-150 Super Snake Sport is able to sprint from 0 – 97 km/h in only 3.4 seconds. Not a fan of supercharging the V8? You can have it without forced induction but it only makes 395 PS.
Helping the Super Snake Sport shave off speed comes courtesy of a Baer brake system. To make the F-150 more agile, Shelby installed a new suspension system that is comprised of adjustable control arms, cam alignment lower arms, front coilovers, rear leaf spring shackles, and an adjustable rear sway bar.
But Shelby wasn't only busy tinkering with the powertrain and its chassis. They also made several changes on the exterior and interior of their 'super truck'. For starters, it gets a nice set of 22-inch aluminum alloy wheels from Carroll Shelby Co that are wrapped in 305/40 series tires.
A custom front bumper and grill, a Shelby Super Snake hood, along with the signature Shelby striping and badging remind would-be owners that they are in something special. There's even a painted tonneau bed cover and a bed rug liner for those that plan to haul stuff with the Super Snake Sport.
Finally, Shelby put a custom leather interior, a unique plaque on the dashboard, faux carbon fiber accents, and Shelby-specific gauges on the interior of the limited-run F-150.
Looking to buy one? Better have $86,085 (around Php 4.396 million) because that is its starting price. Opt for the supercharged, 770 HP version and you'll have to cough up $93,385 (around Php 4.740 million).
With only 250 set to be built, this is one Shelby that could fly off the shelves as fast as it can go. We can only wish to have this beast of a super truck right here in our home turf.
