New program teaches owners how to drive their Shelby GT500
With a 760 horsepower 5.2-liter supercharged V8 under the hood, the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 is undoubtedly one of the most powerful, and not to mention fastest vehicles in Ford’s current model lineup. Because of its power, some owners of the Shelby GT500 might find it too much to handle. To prevent owners of the Shelby GT500 from putting their car into a ditch or crashing into pedestrians, Ford now offers a new driving program for those who own the high-powered pony car.
The new program is called the Shelby GT500 Track Attack, and it is offered exclusively to owners of the 2020 Shelby GT500 free of charge. It was developed by Ford together with the Ford Performance Racing School, allowing owners to fully experience their vehicles in a safe and controlled environment. At the same time, they will learn first-hand the full capabilities of their vehicles including braking, cornering and proper launching techniques taught by professional instructors in the classroom and on road courses.
The Shelby GT500 Track Attack will be held at the new Ford Performance Racing School located at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. Here, the school will provide Shelby GT500s for participants to use in all exercises. An optional second day of on-track instruction will be conducted in Ford Mustang GTs equipped with upgraded Ford Performance suspensions and brakes.
“We are looking forward to the first season of GT500 Track Attack, especially as this will be among the first programs conducted at our new facility in Concord. Shelby GT500 is an exceptional car and delivers an exhilarating driving experience. Our school is the perfect venue to demonstrate just what it can do, both on the track and on the strip. Our professional instructors can help anyone take their driving expertise to the next level, whether they are beginners or experienced drivers,” said Dan McKeever, president, Ford Performance Racing School.
