Toto Wolff: "We've always had a different philosophy from other teams"

Mercedes says changing its front wing concept to a Ferrari-style version is a project that would take months to be complete, but accepts that it needs to be "open-minded." Toto Wolff, Mercedes's chief of competition, said maintaining his own concepts has produced good results for the team in recent years, but admitted he can not ignore the possibility of others having better ideas.
"You need to be open-minded. We have always had a different design philosophy than many other teams. We had cars longer than the other teams. We've never had a car slope in comparison to some other teams. Not because we believed that our concept was superior at all angles, but because the whole car / power unit package was better for us that way. However, with the new change in regulation, you need to be open-minded about what others have done. And if something works better, all teams will analyze what the others put in the car and experience something similar. You do not do things like that from one day to the next. Changing the aerodynamic concept of the car is not a matter of days or weeks, but rather months, "Wolff said at a sponsor's event. Rodrigo Fernandes, de Portugal
