Chinese strengthen their teams with Ferrari and Mercedes designers
It is quite possible that if the supply of vehicles were to be exclusively powered by combustion engines, the Chinese car industry would take years to be able to hit European counterparts. But the technology of batteries and electric motors came to balance everything and give those who have been disadvantaged an opportunity.
However, not only technology lives a car, as the South Korean manufacturers have long realized, a concept that is still passing alongside some Japanese manufacturers. The Chinese also concluded that if they want to enter the European and American market or even shine in the domestic market, it is necessary to bet on more sophisticated and attractive lines. That is why BYD has strengthened its team of stylists with the hiring of elements that gave evidence in Ferrari and Mercedes.
At the company's annual meeting, one of the images revealed to the guests referred to the hiring of JuanMa López, Wolfgang Egger and Michele Paganetti. López was responsible for the exterior design of the Ferrari sports cars, after having passed through Seat, Audi and Lamborghini, having joined BYD in November. In the service of Cavallino Rampante's house, Lopez was responsible for the Ferrari 458, 488, Portofino and 812 Superfast. Impressive, but not for anyone who had previously given body to sports like Aventador.
If Lopez will take care of the exterior of the BYD, it will be Paganetti to look after the interior, which contributed to the seats of the Mercedes C-Class and S-Class. The new elements will join Wolfgang Egger, former head of Audi, before to be replaced by Walter da Silva, who joined BYD in 2017, being the new SUV named Tang II.
