SUPERHORNY ''FLAT TRACK'' OF 1200CC
BIARRITZ, FRANCE - The Indian Motorcycle ended months of speculation by the public. At the Wheels & Waves Festival in France, the iconic brand of American motorcycles, confirmed the start of production of the FTR 1200 model, inspired by a past of Flat Track races. The FTR 1200 has an important role in history, as it is the first series of road bikes inspired by the authentic Flat Trackers. The exact release date is not yet established but everything points to being on the market from 2019.
In addition to announcing this spectacular launch, Indy has also announced a global contest in which pilots from around the world can participate to win one of the first bikes to leave the assembly line. "When the FTR 1200 was announced at EICMA in Milan, we promised to take into account the opinion of all motorcyclists in the world," said Steve Menneto, president of the Indian Motorcycle. "The motorcyclists spoke and their response was overwhelming. We are proud and excited to announce that we will begin production of the FTR 1200. "

The specifications of the FRT 1200 are not yet known, but will certainly be a reincarnation to the Flat Track style image, with a trellis frame, with a new V-twin engine. Indian Motorcycle senior designer Rich Christoph was also present during the launch, whose contribution was instrumental in the design of the FTR 1200, the FTR 1200 Custom and the FTR 750. "We wanted to make sure that the FTR 1200 was not a copy of the FTR 1200 Custom, but an authentic commercial bike inspired by the Flat Track, "said Christoph.
"We are delighted with the character of this bike and its ability to take American V-twin bikes to a whole new territory."A small group of VIP industrialists could see a prototype version of the FTR 1200 but behind closed doors is Festival Wheels & Waves, showing that iIndy is determined to bring this new model to market. From the outset, our intention was for the Indian Motorcycle to become a global brand, "says Micheal Dougherty, international president. "From a good base, it's time for an American motorcycle brand to break down barriers and the FTR 1200 is just the first step."
