FÓRMULA-1
24 years later ... the myth still lives
The year was 1994, on the eve of Imola's fatal grand prize; Senna was worried, Rubens Barrichello had beaten hard in the qualifying preparation - But the accident was fortunately not serious ... But Senna as an expert on track, found that circuit in Italy very insecure - In his vision, that GP could not happen ... Improvements needed to be made in the course of the circuit. The confirmation of Senna's theory came to pass on April 30, 1994, when Simtek/Ford pilot Roland Ratzenberger crashed almost 320km/h and died instantly, still on track ... Under Italian law, that GP had to be canceled by the death of the Austrian driver - but the FIA smartly clung to the hypothesis that Ratzenberger's death was not instantaneous ... Senna by that time had already mobilized the drivers to be against the GP, but the FIA with his great power of influence and financial ignoring the calls of the pilots passing over everything and everyone giving carte blanche to continue the fateful race that year ... What came later was the death of Senna, and shortly afterwards improvements in the layout of the circuit was made - Senna had said long before the fateful GP that improvements on that track would need to be made urgently ... The fact is that the FIA ignored the appeals of Senna and the other riders and sealed his tragic destiny.
