Max Verstappen: "We have a strong car"
Red Bull took a clear step forward this year and introduced a car with the ability to join Mercedes and Ferrari in the title fight. Barcelona tests have shown that the Bulls are doing well, as they have not seen for a long time at the start of the year, and the team are hoping to fight for the top spots, although the Renault engine does not yet have the same arguments as its competitors. Max Verstappen praised his new machine admitting however that the car sins at high speed:"We have to wait and see but compared to last year, the new car is better but also all the other teams have improved. In my opinion, we have a strong car. We still have to see the quality of our package on the straight. Let's have some problems in this chapter. I'm sure I'm optimistic, but I also have to be realistic. The development of the car during the season has been one of our strengths, but we have to wait and see how it will be this year. I am confident that the team has built a great car and that we will maintain this throughout the season. "Red Bull has already shown in previous years to be able to join the front group even though it does not have the same capacity in terms of engine performance and this year is expected to happen again. Mercedes announced that it has a new qualifying mode, which is capable of charging more power yet and should not be on Saturdays that Red Bull will make a difference. But with Verstappen and Ricciardo, riders who know how to attack, a top 3 Saturday qualifying and a good strategy, Red Bull can perfectly fight regularly for podiums and even victories. It will be difficult, but the team has already shown to be able to be successful under these conditions.
