FERRARI ANNOUNCES NEW HYBRID V8 ENGINE FOR 2019
It was not so long ago that Sergio Marchionne told the press that in order to emerge an SUV with the Ferrari emblem, they would have to pass over his corpse. Well, it seems that the CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Ferrari changed his mind, since a few months ago officially announced the arrival of the first off-road Maranello brand. As the months pass, we know more and more details of the first all-terrain of Ferrari and in those days the first information about what will be the motor that possibly will be used by this model appeared. It is a new V8 engine that will use hybridization, a propeller that is finishing its development and that Ferrari plans to introduce in its line next year.Although the LaFerrari already had this type of propulsion system, now the hybrid engines will finally reach the first series production models of the Italian brand. Sergio Marchionne himself confirmed this new engine at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show this week, but for now he has not confirmed which model will be used in this new engine.Anyway and in the absence of an official confirmation, it is understood that the first Ferrari SUV is one of the main candidates to receive this new hybrid engine. It turns out that the Italian manufacturer bet that its first all-terrain will allow him to increase the current production and this will necessarily mean a new planning in its line of motors in order to be able to reduce the level of pollutant emissions and fuel consumption, to overcome the new and more stringent standard that will come into force in 2020 and which will only be applied to manufacturers whose production exceeds 10,000 units per year.Marchionne assures that this will not necessarily mean the final goodbye to V12 engines. It will be necessary to wait to know what is right.
