DTM
The combination of light blue, dark blue and red, known for representing BMW M, the sporting division of BMW, has just won a new interpretation for the 2018 season of the German Touring Car Championship (DTM).The new design will mark the BMW M4 DTM to be piloted by two-time champion Marco Wittmann. The three colors have always been intrinsically associated with BMW within the automotive scene. As early as the 1970s, race cars of the Bavarian brand experienced international success with the distinctive striped design. Today, even the new BMW M8 GTE is one of the sporting models that display the traditional colors, but with the new clothing.
The bold and modern forms of the new design derive from the three bars that characterize the BMW M logo, but with an abstract and contrasting application, which refers to speed. The lines, in turn, are associated with the architectural elements of the car, such as the Hofmeister Knick, a small curvature located at the base of column C of all BMW models. The contours of the multi-faceted figure are graphically associated with the spirit of competition and incorporates the dynamic essence of motorsport."When I saw the new design of my car for the first time, I was fascinated," said BMW team rider Marco Wittmann, who will make his debut in the 2018 DTM season on May 5 in Hockenheim, Germany.
