APOLLO
(IE) ARRIVES WITH 780 CV FOR ONLY 1,250 KILOS
Apollo Automobile, a company that was born from the ashes of Gumpert, finally presented its first definitive model: the new Apollo Intensa Emozione or IE. Although they first introduced Apollo N in the 2016 edition of the Geneva Motor Show, this is the first model they are launching in the market and it can be considered a slightly more radical version than the first prototype presented to the public. It will arrive in the form of a limited edition, since only 10 copies will be manufactured at a price of around 2.3 million euros each, but we will never get to see a unit run on the open roads, since they are track-only versions, destined for just the circuit. A car intended for those rich customers and enthusiasts of the track-day journeys, or those few who have a circuit of their own.
Although they have a lighting system, the truth is that they are not homologable. After this will arrive a street version, probably more expensive to be developed, so for now it is necessary to comply with this limited edition, which for its price promises not to disappoint its customers, at least in terms of income.
Although the investment actually comes from China, it is a project based in Germany but actually made in Italy by the same company that makes the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, Manifattura Automobili Torino. The car is made entirely of carbon fiber, both the spectacular chassis, and its body, which has a fine aerodynamic work.In mechanical terms it has a huge V12 aspirated 6.3-liter engine. The design did not reveal the origin of the engine, but it is probably a Mercedes-AMG source block. It develops the wild power of 780 hp, with a maximum torque of 760 Nm. It features rear-wheel drive and a
6-speed sequential automatic transmission with fins behind the steering wheel.
Its carbon production allows the weight to be a mere 1,250 kilos, not bad considering the huge engine it uses. So the performance is brutal, with the company stating in its introduction note that the Apollo IE is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km / h in only 2.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 335 km / h.
