Renault owner records odometer that reaches one million kilometers
When it comes to car durability, many will first think of Japanese brands. However, the latest example shows that the Japanese are not the only marathon runners, but that even very affordable cars can offer impressive figures. After the legendary Volvo and the Škoda Octavia, we present to you a Renault that has covered one million kilometers without any major problems.
An Algerian driver, the owner of a 2012 Renault Symbol, recorded the moment when his car reached the million kilometer mark.
The driver recorded the odometer going from 999,999 to one million kilometers, and this feat once again proves the durability of older cars, capable of exceeding figures that today seem unimaginable for many modern models. Digital odometers, when they reach seven digits, do not display a higher number, but simply start again from zero, displaying ‘000000‘ on the screen. This is a common limitation in many older models, where the system is not designed to display multiple digits, so the counter is reset as if the car was just purchased.

In total, this distance is equivalent to 25 trips around the world in 14 years, which means an average of about 195 kilometers per day.
The driver himself recorded the odometer reading, which jumped from 999,999 to 1,000,000 kilometers while driving through the streets of Algeria. This milestone demonstrates, once again, the durability of vehicles of yesteryear, capable of exceeding figures that seem unthinkable in many modern models.
In the case of digital odometers, when they reach one million kilometers, they don't display a larger number, but simply reset, showing '000000' on the screen. This is a common limit in many older and mid-range models, where the system was not designed to display more digits, so the odometer resets as if the car were new.
In total, this distance is equivalent to driving almost 25 times around the world in about 14 years, which means traveling an average of approximately 195 kilometers per day. This milestone demonstrates that consistency and proper vehicle maintenance can extend its lifespan far beyond what many imagine, even surpassing figures that seem unthinkable for most modern cars.
Concept and basis: The Symbol is, technically, a heavy restyling of the Clio Sedan platform (Renault B-Platform), seeking to offer more harmonious lines and a superior finish to the Logan of the time.
Origin of production: The units sold in Brazil were imported from Argentina.
Origin of the project: Although sold by the French brand Renault, the model was developed with strong influence from Dacia (Renault's Romanian subsidiary), based on low-cost and robust designs for markets in Eastern Europe, Turkey and Algeria.
Positioning: It was created to replace the Clio Sedan and to position itself between the Renault Logan (simpler) and the Renault Mégane (larger).
The B-segment B platform was developed through a Nissan-led project as a common platform for the Renault-Nissan Alliance.[2][3] As of 2010, the next generation of this platform has been renamed V platform.
Renault B-Platform...An initial common platform (a Nissan-led project), the B-platform, has been used by Nissan since 2002 with the Micra (March in Japan) and Cube. This was followed in 2004 by the launch of the Tiida and Tiida Latio on the Japanese domestic market and the Nissan Note launched in January 2005. Tiida has subsequently gone on sale in selected global markets, including the U.S. where it is sold as the Versa.
Four additional vehicles, the Nissan Wingroad (launched in November 2005), the Bluebird Sylphy (launched in December 2005), the Livina (launched from 2006 to 2008) and the NV200 light commercial vehicle (launched in 2009) are also based on the B-platform. Most recently, Nissan introduced the Juke. An innovative small crossover to be sold across the world, it further showed the flexibility and durability of this most successful Alliance platform.
In 2004, Renault unveiled the Modus, its first vehicle to use the common Bplatform. In September 2005, Renault launched Clio III, also built on this platform. The common B-platform continues to bear fruit for the Alliance. In 2008, Nissan launched the new generation Cube compact.
