2025 Ford Bronco Stroppe Edition test

It is a safe bet that most owners of the 2025 Ford Bronco Stroppe Special Edition will have no idea who Bill Stroppe was. That's not any fault of Stroppe's, who was integral to Ford's desert-racing efforts as a builder in the 1960s and '70s, but the man was born in 1919 and his heyday was about, oh, 20,000 days ago. But that's fine. Even when a name is attached to a big personality and widespread fame—see Shelby, Carroll—at some point the original human connection transmogrifies into a brand. We all know what it means when a Mustang wears a Shelby badge, so what can we expect from a Stroppe Bronco?

Well, a flashy paint job, for one. The Stroppe pays homage to its Baja-racing ancestors with a four-color livery: Code Orange (a.k.a. Raptor orange) from the bottom of the truck up to just above the door handles, then a layer of Oxford White below an Atlas Blue hardtop. The hood is matte black to cut glare from the sun on the Warp Zone section of the Mint 400 and also tame the overhead lights of the Taco Bell drive-through. The tailgate is matte black, and the grille is yet a different shade of white—Frozen White. You'll know a Stroppe Edition when you see it, and not just because badges on the fenders read "Stroppe Edition" alongside an icon of a cactus.

The 2025 Ford Bronco Stroppe Edition is a special edition Bronco that honors the legacy of off-road driver Bill Stroppe, focusing on performance and retro style. It is available exclusively in the two-door version (for the 2025 model year) and is considered the most capable two-door Bronco in terms of off-road performance, performing well both on trails and in the city.

Engine: The 2025 Stroppe Edition comes standard with the 2.7L EcoBoost V6 twin-turbo engine, which produces 330 horsepower and 56.9 kgfm of torque (415 lb-ft). This engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission; there is no manual transmission option for this model.

Off-Road Capability: The vehicle is equipped with the complete Sasquatch package, which includes HOSS 3.0 (High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension) with internal Fox bypass shocks, locking front and rear differentials, and 35-inch Goodyear Territory RT all-terrain tires. It also features the G.O.A.T. Modes™ (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) system with specific driving modes such as Normal, Slippery, Eco, Sand, Mud/Ruts, Baja, and Rock Crawl.

Driving: Despite its off-road credentials, test drive reviews note that the Stroppe Edition offers a surprisingly refined and comfortable ride on asphalt, absorbing imperfections such as potholes and urban speed bumps well. The short wheelbase (two-door version) contributes to excellent maneuverability on tight trails and parking lots.

Exclusive Style: The design is a major highlight, featuring a multi-tone color scheme (Oxford White, Code Orange, and Atlas Blue on the hardtop) reminiscent of Bill Stroppe's original Baja racing Broncos. Unique details include orange tow hooks, modular steel bumpers, and a white-finished instrument panel.

Test Impressions...On- and off-road tests indicate that the Bronco Stroppe Edition is a fun vehicle, with plenty of power for acceleration and overtaking, as well as being extremely capable off-road. Although the noise from the all-terrain tires may be noticeable at cruising speeds and fuel consumption is high, it's an adventure machine with plenty of practicality for everyday use.
