TOYOTA

Toyota Hilux announced

The current, eighth-generation Toyota Hilux has continued the pickup's reputation as a reliable all-terrain truck, but a new model is coming soon to compete with the new models.

But what's so special about this new Hilux? In addition to the revamped look, it promises to bring significant technological advancements, such as the introduction of a hybrid system coupled to the diesel engine. Let's detail everything we already know.

Spotted in Thailand, the new 2026 Toyota Hilux emerges with a more modern and bold design. The light camouflage revealed details such as the front grilles divided by a horizontal bar, which add a robust and sophisticated air. The headlights, now thinner and with full-LED technology, guarantee a futuristic look. The daytime running lights were strategically positioned, while the depressions in the bumper suggest imitations of air intakes to reinforce the sporty aesthetic.

Spotted during testing in Thailand, the new 2026 Toyota Hilux arrives with a hybrid diesel engine, electric power steering, and an innovative design. The global debut is confirmed for the second half of the year and promises to redefine the mid-size pickup truck market!

The new 2026 Toyota Hilux is already making headlines! The mid-size pickup truck, a true icon in the global market, was spotted for the first time in Thailand. With camouflage that reveals some design innovations, the images reinforce that the ninth generation is getting closer. The global launch is scheduled for the second half of 2026, promising to shake up the segment.

The interior of the new Hilux hasn't been revealed yet, but it's thought to share elements from the Land Cruiser SUV. Two large screens are expected - one is a 12.3-inch touchscreen - but plenty of physical buttons for frequently used functions.

The new model is expected to use an updated platform from the current car. This should mean that Toyota retains the mild hybrid 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine, which joined the lineup in 2025 and produces 150 kW/204 hp and 500 Nm of torque.

Under the hood, the new generation will feature the already known 2.8 turbodiesel engine, but now accompanied by a 48V mild-hybrid system. This technology, in addition to reducing fuel consumption, helps to meet stricter emissions standards, a growing demand in global markets.

The details of the front design are eye-catching. The upper part of the grille displays a honeycomb pattern, while the lower part features horizontal fins. This combination gives the Hilux a more imposing look, without losing the essence that has won thousands of fans around the world.

Despite the external changes, the cabin remains the same as the previous generation. This choice demonstrates Toyota's intention to maintain the already established reliability and resistance. However, the new electric power steering promises a much more comfortable and precise driving experience.

The replacement of hydraulic power steering with an electric system is one of the biggest innovations of this generation. This not only improves drivability but also reduces fuel consumption, offering more comfort for the driver, especially on urban routes.

MHEV (mild-hybrid) technology is gaining ground and is set to optimize the efficiency of the new Hilux. With it, a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions is expected, a crucial point for markets that are adopting stricter regulations.

Thailand, a major hub for the production and consumption of pickup trucks, will be the first market to receive the new 2026 Hilux. Known as the Hilux Travo in that region, the pickup reaffirms the strategic importance of the country for Toyota.

Although the global debut will take place in 2026, its arrival in Brazil should take a little longer. Production at the Zárate factory in Argentina still depends on new investments for adaptation. Here, the expectation is that the new Hilux will arrive in 2027, already aligned with local demands.

The new 2026 Toyota Hilux is not just another pickup truck on the market. It symbolizes the evolution of a line that has won over generations. From design to technological innovations, the Hilux promises to remain a benchmark in the segment in Brazil.
