BMW M2 Turbo Design Edition

BMW M is celebrating one of its earliest and most iconic high-performance cars with a new special edition. This new M2 Turbo Design Edition model year combines visual elements from the 1970s with today's technology.

According to Carscoops, with a price tag of $84,075 in the US, the new M2 Turbo Design Edition is almost $15,000 more expensive than the standard M2. However, you get a limited edition car (the news does not specify how many units are planned), with a package inspired by the legendary BMW 2002 Turbo, launched in September 1973.

Each example comes in Alpine White, with a carbon fiber roof. That roof also has M stripes that run the length of the roof. You also get M stripes on the hood and trunk, as well as the word "Turbo" written upside down on the hood.

Matte Gold Bronze Style 1000M wheels are also available as an option, for $6,266.

A heated M Alcantara steering wheel is standard. As you reach for the six-speed shifter, you’ll see the cup holder cover plate features the “Turbo” inscription over the M stripes as part of the standard carbon fiber interior trim found throughout.

The standard package includes an M Performance carbon fiber rear spoiler, M Shadowline lights, a heated M Alcantara steering wheel, and carbon fiber interior accents.

The driver will find the standard Live Cockpit Professional system includes a head-up display. This is there to help keep their focus on the road more as speed, tachometer, and any other pertinent information they need to see is ahead and in their line of sight.

Other now-standard features include a wireless phone charger and a head-up display, among others.

There are no changes to the S58 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine, which has the same 480 hp and 550 Nm, paired with a six-speed manual transmission.

Acceleration to 100 km/h is done in 4.1 seconds, while the top speed is limited to 250 km/h (with the optional M Driver’s Package it is 285 km/h).

The only disappointing news is the 2026 BMW M2 Turbo Design Edition will be built in “extremely limited numbers.” Just how limited those numbers are isn’t mentioned by the Bavarian manufacturer, but we imagine they will suit the $84,075 asking price. For context, a normal 2025 BMW M2 starts at around $65,000.

BMW expects to begin production of the 2026 M2 Turbo Design in Q1 of 2026 with deliveries expected in early Q2. But, if you want to see it in person before then, you’ll want to make it down to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia, on Oct. 10 to 11. It will be at BMW’s display during the 2025 running of IMSA’s Motul Petit Le Mans race weekend.
