Raul Fernandez takes first career win in Australia
Trekhaus rider Raul Fernandez won the Australian Grand Prix in the MotoGP championship.
Early Sunday morning (Brasília time), MotoGP saw a groundbreaking victory at the Australian Grand Prix. Trackhouse's Raúl Fernández shone at Phillip Island, securing not only his first victory in the category but also the first victory for Aprilia's satellite team, a newcomer to the premier class. Fabio Di Giannantonio finished second, while Marco Bezzecchi completed the podium in third.
With this result, Aprilia now has two motorcycles on the podium for the first time, and Bezzecchi moves into third place in the championship, overtaking Pecco Bagnaia, who crashed during the race and was left without a point.
Raul Fernandez took his first career win in the "royal class" with a time of 39:49.571.
Second place in Australia was won by Pertamina enduro VR46 rider Fabio di Gianantonio, Italian, who was 1.418 seconds behind the winner. Third was Aprilia rider Marco Bececchi, 2.410 seconds behind Fernandez.
First place in the overall standings is held by Ducati rider Marc Marquez with 545 points. The Spaniard has already secured the MotoGP championship title, but missed the race in Australia as he is recovering from surgery on his right shoulder.
Second place in the overall standings is held by Gresini rider Alex Marquez, Marc's brother, with 379 points.
The next race in the Moto GP championship will be held on October 26th for the Malaysian Grand Prix at the Sepang circuit.
