KTM 450 SMR, minor changes in the 2026 version
The main technical update for 2026 is the adaptation of the bike to the new and more stringent FIM noise regulation of 109 dB. Far from compromising performance, KTM engineers achieved this through a clever combination of modifications to the electronic fuel injection, the addition of new inserts in the air filter box, and precise adjustments to the silencer.
KTM has revamped its most fun racing machine, the 2026 450 SMR, with a clear objective: to meet the new FIM noise standards of 109 dB without compromising performance. The result is a more accessible Supermoto, packed with technical adjustments that reinforce its competitive character. The brand itself guarantees that the new SMR is "just a little quieter than is good," dispelling any doubts about power loss.

The KTM 450 SMR's power plant is the famous 449.9 cc single-cylinder SOHC engine, which maintains an estimated power output of 63 hp, optimized for the track. The major development challenge focused on redesigning the intake and exhaust systems. KTM implemented new inserts in the air filter box and specific adjustments to the electronic fuel injection (EFI) and exhaust. These modifications ensure a cleaner and more efficient response, while the five-speed gearbox has been optimized for maximum track performance.
The result is a motorcycle that, according to the brand, is "just a little quieter, but with the same performance," allowing riders to continue to explore the limits on the track, knowing they have the most powerful machine on the grid.
The suspension system once again features WP's signature excellence. At the front, it incorporates the new 48mm WP XACT closed-cartridge fork with a redesigned central valve piston for more consistent damping. At the rear, the fully adjustable WP XACT shock offers a firm response.

With intensive track use in mind, where every minute counts, several improvements have been introduced focusing on reliability and maintenance efficiency. A new radiator locking system not only increases the durability of the casing but also allows for faster and easier access, reducing pit stop time.
Furthermore, a new insulating protector has been incorporated for the CPC fuel connector, a solution that protects this sensitive point against shocks, debris, and dirt, ensuring a constant and reliable fuel flow from the 7.2-liter tank.
Electronics remain a strong point. The 2026 KTM 450 SMR includes standard Launch Control and a Quickshifter that allows upshifting or downshifting (second to fifth gears) without using the clutch. The new simplified map switch offers map 1 (linear) and map 2 (aggressive), as well as easily activated traction control.

In terms of technology, the 2026 KTM 450 SMR is designed to be compatible with the Offroad Connectivity Unit (OCU), available as an accessory in the KTM PowerParts catalog. This device, which is mounted between the machined steering yokes and connects to a GPS sensor in the front fender, opens up a world of configuration possibilities through the KTMConnect app on a smartphone.
Riders can now modify engine management, follow instructions to adjust suspension parameters, and closely monitor their performance on the track, analyzing each lap to improve their riding style.

Retaining its elite components — the lightweight and powerful 450cc SOHC engine, WP XACT suspension, high-performance Brembo brakes, and ALPINA wheels with Metzeler tires — the 2026 KTM 450 SMR is more precise and ready than ever to remain the undisputed queen of supermoto.
KTM has also improved ease of maintenance and robustness by redesigning the radiator locking system and fuel connector. Aesthetically, the bike sports the traditional orange, complemented by a black chassis and wheels, and a retro touch of purple. Weighing only 109 kg dry and ready to incorporate the Off-road Connectivity Unit (OCU), the 2026 450 SMR is lighter, more technologically advanced, and ready to dominate the tracks.
