Kawasaki Z650 S 2026: more aggressive and connected

The 2026 Kawasaki Z650 S ABS is a bold evolution of Kawasaki’s middleweight lineup, combining sleek design, smart technology, and confident performance. Powered by a 649cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, it delivers strong low- to mid-range torque, making city rides and weekend escapes equally thrilling. The redesigned bodywork adds a muscular, modern edge, with wider shrouds, LED lighting, and a more aggressive stance that highlights its Sugomi DNA.

Kawasaki officially unveiled the new Z650 S 2026, a significant evolution of its popular midsize naked motorcycle. The model will arrive at European dealerships in January 2026, promising to maintain the acclaimed balance between urban performance and short-haul comfort, now packaged in a more aggressive design and featuring cutting-edge technological advancements.

The Kawasaki Z650 S maintains the mechanical foundation that has made it successful: the renowned 649cc liquid-cooled DOHC parallel-twin engine, shared with the Ninja 650 and Versys 650. Despite its long history (with roots in the 2006 ER-6 project), the engine has been refined for the S version, prioritizing a more robust power delivery at low and mid-range revs. Estimated power output is 67 hp, with torque of 6.5 kgf.m. The Slipper Clutch has been retained, and the cooling system has received a new fan shroud, crucial for managing heat during heavy use in urban traffic. Traction Control (KTRC) is now standard, with the Quickshifter option for upshifts available as an accessory, elevating the sporty experience.

The highly rigid chassis is maintained by the renowned tubular trellis frame. For braking, the Kawasaki Z650 S now features dual 300mm discs up front and a single 220mm disc at the rear, equipped with the new Continental ABS system. For added convenience, a USB-C port built into the front fairing has been added to the standard package.

One of the areas that received the most attention was comfort and ergonomics. The new fat-bar handlebar is 30 mm wider, offering greater control and a more dominant riding posture. The footpegs have been repositioned, and the seats have been completely redesigned:

- Rider's Seat: 20 mm higher and significantly more padded.

- Passenger Seat: 20 mm wider and with an additional 10 mm of foam, improving occupant comfort. Kawasaki will also be expanding its accessories catalog with 20mm higher or lower seat options, allowing for fine-tuning for riders of all sizes. Despite the more robust fairing and enlarged tank, the manufacturer ensures that ground clearance remains user-friendly.

The Kawasaki Z650 S's front end has been radically transformed, incorporating a striking new triple-LED headlight, which, along with the LED indicators and taillight, ensures excellent visibility and an aggressive look.

The biggest technological leap is in the cockpit. The instrument panel is now a 4.3-inch TFT display that offers full compatibility with the Kawasaki Rideology app. This allows the rider to access telemetry data, receive notifications, and, most importantly, customize the display layout, which features two tachometer styles and automatic/manual adjustment of the display modes (light/dark).
