Model Y Performance 2025: new battery, sporty chassis, and more power

Tesla has completed its Model Y lineup, which, as we recall, underwent a major update earlier this year (2025)... but something was missing. More specifically, the cherry on top, which has now arrived in the form of the Tesla Model Y Performance 2025.

This is the highest-performance (and also the most expensive) version of the Elon Musk-led brand's best-selling model. It also features some specific aesthetic details, a new battery, a revised suspension, and improved comfort features.

The new Model Y stands out from its siblings in the lineup thanks to subtle aesthetic details aimed at improving aerodynamics. The most significant are the specific front bumper and the carbon rear spoiler, which generates more downforce at high speeds and reduces air resistance.

The 627 horsepower delivered by its two electric motors (215 in the front and 412 in the rear) allows it to improve its performance and make a notable difference compared to the rest of the Model Y lineup. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, 1.3 seconds slower than the all-wheel-drive Long Range, which is the closest. The Model Y Performance's top speed reaches 250 km/h.

While Tesla doesn't provide many details, it confirms that the Model Y Performance features a new battery with high-density cells and increased charging capacity (covering up to 243 kilometers at Tesla Superchargers in 15 minutes).

Despite its features, the Tesla Model Y Performance won't fall behind, not even remotely, in terms of range, with a range of 580 kilometers.

Another important improvement is the chassis. The Model Y Performance is equipped with adaptive electronic dampers and specific driving programs that affect them (and not just the accelerator, steering, or electronic controls) to enhance its sporty personality.

As is customary with Tesla launches, we already know the price of the Model Y Performance...because it's on sale in Spain: it costs 61,990 euros, 9,000 more than the version that previously crowned the Model Y lineup, the Long Range with all-wheel drive, which costs 52,990 euros.

Its equipment includes 21-inch alloy wheels (it's the only Model Y to offer this size), heated and ventilated high-performance front sport seats, carbon interior accents, and a 16-inch main screen (remember that the other versions have a 15.4-inch screen).
