Can you really clean your car rims with Coca-Cola?

Many drivers are looking for affordable ways to maintain their vehicles. One popular topic is cleaning rims, which often involves using household products such as Coca-Cola or vinegar. However, is it even worth it?

The German ADAC is skeptical about these methods. Although surface dirt can be removed with Coca-Cola or diluted vinegar, these products are not effective against stubborn stains such as brake dust. Moreover, if used in the wrong concentration, they can damage aluminum rims, warns the ADAC.

That is why the automobile club recommends using special products for cleaning aluminum and steel rims. They are developed to effectively remove dirt without damaging the material. When applying them, it is important to follow the instructions for use exactly, especially the recommended exposure time, according to Autonews.

How often should rims be cleaned? Regular care of the rims extends their lifespan and contributes to the neat appearance of the vehicle. Experts recommend thorough cleaning at least twice a year, when changing winter and summer tires – in spring and autumn.

It is recommended to remove the rims for cleaning, as this makes it easier to reach hard-to-reach places and prevents cleaning agents from entering the brake system.

How to remove rust from your car with Coca-Cola...Here's why Coca-Cola is the best weapon against car rust:

Because it's carbonated, it can dissolve with metal oxides to break down rust and remove stains from various metals and their alloys.

It contains citric acid, known for removing stains, and phosphoric acid, which removes rust.

Coca-Cola...Take a full can or bottle, slightly empty so it doesn't fizz immediately. We prefer Coca-Cola Zero because it's not sticky like regular Coca-Cola. This way, after removing the rust, you don't have to spend a lot of time washing off the glue.

Sponge/Aluminum Foil...Many people prefer a sponge because it won't scratch the chrome finish. Aluminum foil, however, is a better alternative because it requires less work. At the same time, aluminum foil isn't hard and therefore won't scratch the surface.

Cleaning Cloths...If you use regular Coca-Cola, the adhesion will be perfect. But even if you use Coca-Cola Zero, there will still be some stickiness on the car's surface and bumpers. Also, due to the color of Coca-Cola, you'll need a mat to clean frequently.
