Kia Tasman projection on a Jeep Gladiator

Few people will remember that Kia once had a 4×4 jeep and it was known as the Retona, but there was an equivalent that the Brazilian bought, this being the Asia Rocsta, from the brand that ended up being taken over by Kia some time later.

However, Kia has not had cars with a chassis for a long time and now the Kia Tasman appears, ready to provide the crossbars that a true 4×4 jeep needs to face any challenge.

With this in mind, @theottle made a projection of a new 4×4 jeep from Kia that would be a rescue of the Retona as a direct derivative of the Kia Tasman and with a target in front.

As we have seen, the Tasman is a middle ground between a Jeep Gladiator and a Nissan NP300 pickup truck, and is not even equivalent to a Toyota Hilux, for example.

Thus, a 4×4 jeep derived from the Tasman would be a much cheaper alternative to the Jeep Wrangler, thus focusing on markets in Asia, Africa and Oceania.

The most interesting thing about the Tasman is that it seems to have been born to have a four-seater jeep with a very traditional feel, since its aesthetic details simply harmonize in the shape of a modern-day Retona.

With black moldings on the wheel skirts, as well as the voluminous front with vertical headlights and compact taillights, the Kia jeep visualized by Theophilus Chin shows that the model would be very versatile.

With a removable roof, the Kia jeep can remove its doors and present itself as an extreme adventurer, with a washable interior and a dashboard protected against water.

A hood with large windows would also be integrated, with a tilting rear window, while an internal roll bar with anti-roll bars would make the little jeep highly robust.

With a 2.2 CRDi diesel engine, the Kia jeep could be produced in Uruguay alongside the Tasman destined for Brazil, sharing the same mechanics as Ford did with the Ranger and Troller T4.

Certainly, customers who are orphans of the Ceará brand and other adventurers would be happy with a new option that Kia, even with the right to a team in the Sertões Rally, would offer to the national market.
