Marc Márquez does not back down under pressure and makes history by beating Álex Márquez
The Spaniard Marc Márquez has taken victory in the Thai Grand Prix, where he had to spend much of the race on the wheel of his brother Álex Márquez to avoid the pressure rise in his front tyre, with the Italian Pecco Bagnaia completing an identical podium to yesterday's Sprint and his compatriot Franco Morbidelli sealing Ducati's poker at the start of MotoGP 2025.
It is the first time in the entire history of the premier class in which two brothers occupy the first and second positions on the podium.
Marc Márquez again nailed the start and Pecco Bagnaia put the bike to Álex Márquez, who had to go wide and was overtaken by Ai Ogura, to whom he immediately gave it back to, immediately after, overtake Bagnaia and try to get away with his brother. Behind them, Jack Miller was ahead of Raúl Fernández, Franco Morbidelli, Marco Bezzecchi, Pedro Acosta and Joan Mir.
The Márquez brothers opened a gap on Bagnaia, who was leading a train that lost a carriage when Pedro Acosta crashed. The Murcian managed to return to the track in last position, losing some 23 seconds and condemning all his options.
Meanwhile, Marc Márquez increased the gap over Álex Márquez to more than a second; and Morbidelli put the bike in front of Ogura to put a poker of Ducatis in the lead that changed order when, on the seventh lap, Marc raised his head and cut the gas to lose more than a second and let Álex pass, surely because his blood pressure was rising and he was afraid of a penalty.
That was compacting the group, as Bagnaia was getting closer with Morbidelli and Ogura trying to get to them. Behind, Joan Mir gained two positions on Raúl Fernández and Marco Bezzecchi... but he crashed shortly afterwards when he was riding in seventh.
Immediately afterwards, Bezzecchi threw his bike to Miller to get into sixth place, which allowed Johann Zarco and Fabio Di Giannantonio to close in on them, while Raúl Fernández was losing positions.
Up front, Marc was glued to Álex all the time, with Bagnaia holding on to less than a second after letting go of Morbidelli and Ogura, who after following them for a few laps had to give up.
Behind, Fabio Di Giannantonio threw his bike to Jack Miller - who had been overtaken by Zarco - and both went slightly wide, which Brad Binder took advantage of to overtake both of them.
With four to go, Marc Márquez released the brakes in the last corner to overtake Álex Márquez and regain the lead, quickly putting distance between them on the way to victory to complete a perfect GP.
Pecco Bagnaia completed the podium with Franco Morbidelli sealing Ducati's four points and Ai Ogura fifth to complete a dream debut in the premier class. Sixth was Marco Bezzecchi ahead of Johann Zarco, Brad Binder, Enea Bastianini and Fabio Di Giannantonio, with Fermin Aldeguer scoring points on his
