VW Tera 2025 aparece sem camuflagem na Europa

New VW Tera spotted undisguised ahead of launch in Brazil

Considered one of the most important launches in recent years by the German brand, the new VW Tera SUV is now available without any disguises. This is what the footage from the Spanish website Motor.es indicates, which shows the model driving in the snow in northern Europe.

The new Tera follows the visual identity of recent European VWs, such as the new-generation Tiguan. The large lower grille on the bumper and a chrome element connecting the headlights to the main grille stand out. However, unlike the brand's more sophisticated models, the prototype does not have an illuminated grille. It also shouldn't have a sunroof and aims to keep the price competitive, positioning it between the Polo and the entry-level versions of the Nivus and T-Cross.

On the side, the SUV differs from the T-Cross/Nivus duo with a look closer to the European T-Roc, including a wide rear pillar and 16" or 17" wheels. It should also have more affordable versions to compete with Citroën Basalt, Fiat Pulse and Renault Kardian. At the rear, the lights still look camouflaged, reminiscent of the T-Cross. The final version should adopt its own design, but maintaining the one-piece element common to Volkswagen SUVs.

Produced at the Taubaté factory (SP), the SUV will share the MQB-A0 platform with the Polo, T-Cross, Nivus and Virtus. Its size should be around 4 meters in length, smaller than T-Cross and Nivus, with a wheelbase of 2,566 mm — for comparison, Pulse and Kardian have 2,532 mm and 2,604 mm, respectively.

Under the hood, the 1.0 TSI engine, widely used by Volkswagen in Brazil, will be the main option. Rumors indicate that it will have 116 hp (the same configuration as the Polo) to differentiate it from the more powerful Nivus and T-Cross, which have 128 hp. The gearbox will be manual in the entry-level versions and a 6-speed automatic in the intermediate and top-of-the-line versions.

Furthermore, there is a possibility that the Tera will have a 1.0-liter naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine, as in the basic versions of the Polo, a strategy similar to that of Citroën with the Basalt, which uses a weaker engine in the entry-level version.

The launch of Volkswagen's new entry-level SUV in Brazil already has a set date: March 2, coinciding with Carnival 2025. Until then, we await new information about the model.
