LEXUS
2025 Lexus GX
Following its highly anticipated debut in 2024, the Lexus GX arrives with several standard features added to its lineup for 2025, including a 25 mm suspension lift now standard on the Overtrail and Overtrail Plus trims.
Redesigned from the ground up to inspire customers to pursue their wanderlust, take the unpaved road and revel in the joy of driving, the GX delivers the intuitive technology, thoughtful interior touches and seamless off-road prowess that Lexus customers have come to expect.
Lexus enthusiasts have long praised the GX’s legendary off-road capability and ability to tackle rugged terrain, taking customers from the city to remote expanses in comfort. The GX is offered in six trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, Luxury, Luxury Plus, Overtrail and Overtrail Plus.
GA-F Platform and Suspension...The 2025 GX shares the GA-F platform introduced on the current-generation LX. This strong, lightweight ladder frame increases body rigidity and improves on-road handling, key elements of the Lexus Driving Signature. The platform is optimally designed to withstand off-road torsional forces, maximize suspension performance, create stable wheel articulation and consistent tire contact patch, all while maintaining stability in the cabin. This reinforced structure also allows owners to carry their Lexus dealer-available accessories and equipment, such as roof tents, recovery kits and more available through the Associated Accessory Parts Program (AAP).
A double-wishbone front suspension is combined with a multi-link rear suspension to achieve a high level of off-road driving performance and on-road prowess. An available Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) constantly adjusts damping forces based on changing road conditions. The GX also features Electronic Power Steering (EPS), enabling enhanced steering feel on and off-road.
The GX offers customers the duality needed in a luxury SUV – a rugged and capable exterior with luxurious interior elements that help create a travel oasis. No matter the length of the trip, driver and passengers will reap the benefits of the modern and sophisticated interior. Featuring the driver-focused cockpit design also seen in the RX and RZ, the GX displays thoughtful elements that allow the driver the confidence to focus on the journey ahead.
A low, horizontal instrument panel design is carried over to a streamlined experience from the driver and passenger seats, providing excellent forward and side visibility. It provides a clean, open space that seamlessly connects the available Head-Up Display (HUD) to the center, where the standard 14-inch Multimedia Touchscreen Display with Lexus Interface technology can be found. Physical dials for frequently used controls such as air conditioning and audio volume remain, and all available off-road controls are concentrated near the gearshift to help minimize potential driver distraction. The GX comes standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as a 12.3-inch digital head-up display (MID).
Evolved Engine: 3.4L Twin Turbo V6 and Direct Shift-10AT...The GX comes standard with a highly capable and efficient 3.4L twin-turbo V6 engine, mated to a 10-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission and an EPA-estimated 18.7 mpg highway fuel economy rating. The twin-turbo V6 produces 349 horsepower, surpassing the previous-generation V8's 301 horsepower, and torque output also increases to a massive 450 lb-ft. The twin turbochargers provide smooth, consistent acceleration to easily control power delivery in both on- and off-road scenarios. Towing capacity is up to 9,000 pounds for the Premium, Premium Plus and Overtrail Plus trims and 9,000 pounds for the Overtrail trim with the standard trailer hitch receiver.
Legendary off-road performance...The GX has been renowned for its off-road performance since its inception, and the 2025 GX continues that legacy. Full-time 4WD is standard for consistent responsiveness on varied terrain, and for 2025, a 25mm suspension lift is now standard exclusively on Overtrail and Overtrail Plus models, increasing minimum ground clearance to 250mm.
Perfect for off-road pursuits, the Torsen limited-slip locking center differential is standard on all GX models, evenly splitting engine power 50:50 to help provide exceptional control in low-grip situations and prevent excessive wheel spin. When accelerating through a corner, the Torsen differential optimally distributes drive force according to the load on the left and right rear wheels for controlled performance. In straight-line driving, it responds well to changing road conditions, contributing to the vehicle’s overall stability.
For added coverage, the Overtrail and Overtrail Plus trims exclusively offer an electronically controlled locking rear differential, activated by a console-mounted switch, that splits power evenly between the left and right rear wheels to help keep the wheels spinning at the same speed. And in certain situations, the locking rear differential is designed to ensure power is directed to the wheel with traction.
The 2025 Lexus GX 550 Overtrail and Overtrail Plus come standard with the Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (E-KDSS), which provides a high level of balance between off-road handling and on-road driving stability. This system locks and unlocks the front and rear stabilizer bars to aid in improved wheel control and articulation. Depending on driving conditions, speed, steering input and the driver’s chosen Multi-Terrain Select (MTS) setting, the system can independently lock or unlock the front and rear stabilizer bars as needed.
