Company to launch motorcycle with automatic deceleration and braking next year
The sports motorcycle company KTM will make its models even safer starting next year. The company is preparing to launch a motorcycle with automatic deceleration and braking, in addition to several other protection features.
The model will be officially presented in November of this year, with production scheduled for 2025.
Motorcycle will have more than one automatic brake... The future KTM motorcycle will be equipped with the second generation of Bosch's Advanced Rider Assistance Systems, which comes with six radar-based riding safety features.
One of the highlights is the “Adaptive cruise control – stop and go”. The tool will help the motorcyclist maintain a safe distance from the driver in front if he is moving at a slower speed. To do this, the system gradually slows down the motorcycle, and can even stop (if necessary).
The feature is only intended for motorcycles without a clutch, so that the driver can resume acceleration without having to change gears.
If a vehicle is too close to the rear of the motorcycle, the system will issue a warning on the main screen, alerting the driver;
There is also a rear collision alert, which turns on emergency lights to warn the driver of the vehicle behind that he is too close;
If you are the driver who is too close to another car, the system can take control of the steering, slowing down and braking to avoid a collision with the vehicle in front. You can regain control of the motorcycle with a movement of the accelerator;
If you are one of those who like to ride with other bikers, there is a travel assistant that regulates the model's permanence in a single position, so as not to interfere with the group's driving.
Motorcycle safety features should arrive soon
According to the website Mortorcycle News, the second-generation system for motorcycles should debut in a Super Adventure model, probably built on a 1390 platform with a semi-automatic gearbox and no clutch. There is no official release date, but it should happen in 2025.
This will not be the first model with motorcycle safety features. KTM already has other radar-assisted options in its portfolio, as do other brands such as Ducati.
For now, Bosch's system has been announced exclusively for KTM, but the company expects to see it on more brands soon.
