KYMCO
Taiwanese manufacturer Kymco has mixed elements of a scooter and an adventure motorcycle to create a trail-ready machine, the CV-R5. The vehicle with an off-road chassis and a 427cc engine was revealed this month and promises to shake up the category already explored by giants such as Honda and Yamaha.
Despite the more aggressive look, the riding characteristics are those of a scooter, says the manufacturer. Learn more about the new product.
What is the Kymco CV-R5 scooter like?
The new engine produces 40.2 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm;
As for the features, the list includes: ABS, full LED lighting, cruise control and traction control;
The brakes are double disc at the front and single disc at the rear;
There are also semi-knobby tires (designed with studs or protrusions that provide superior grip on terrain such as mud, sand and rocks) and wide handlebars with a central screen.
Kymco has also equipped the new scooter with a six-link rear suspension, a PTM independent swingarm, USD forks and a high-rigidity frame setup for off-road riding.
Price...The affordable adventure scooter market is growing, with models selling for under $2,000, such as a version of the Honda Super Cub. The final price and more details about the CV-R5 will be officially revealed in November at EICMA, the annual motorcycle trade show held in Milan, Italy.
It is worth mentioning that the Taiwanese manufacturer has not yet confirmed when it plans to bring the CV-R5 to other markets, such as the United States and Europe.
