PRAETORIAN TG3: bus with heavy off-road DNA
Last week Torsus presented the PRAETORIAN TG3. This is the third generation of its heavy off-road bus. The model arrives with more than 50 technical updates and completely new options.
This is the Torsus Praetorian TG3...The 8.7 meter PRAETORIAN TG3 has a polymer body to transport occupants with greater comfort and refinement than its predecessor. Improvements to the suspension and chassis also provide greater agility, allowing drivers to better exploit the full potential of the MAN 6-cylinder 1,150 Nm diesel engine, 12-speed transmission and high-strength 4x4 traction.
The PRAETORIAN effortlessly climbs 65% inclines and crosses rivers 680mm deep.
State-of-the-art 19.5-inch front and rear disc brakes provide unparalleled stopping power.
New rear air suspension and custom-made chassis/body mounts transform ride, usability and comfort on any terrain and in any weather conditions.
Improved heating, ventilation and air conditioning, plus state-of-the-art engine insulation improve driver and passenger comfort, with 14 seating configuration options available.
The model also comes with a new 30-meter, 12-ton steel front winch to overcome obstacles and cross very challenging terrain.
Beneath the vehicle's polymeric outer body, which features an extremely protective polyurea top layer, lies a vastly improved chassis and suspension system.
The silent blocks supporting the struts connecting the vehicle's MAN chassis to the superstructure have been updated.
PRAETORIAN also features the introduction of new mounting points for the superstructure floor, which improve rigidity to provide passengers with a more relaxed travel experience.
At the rear, the leaf springs from the previous PRAETORIAN have been replaced by a new air suspension system.
The engine of the Torsus Praetorian TG3...The strong heart of the TORSUS PRAETORIAN off-road bus is its 6-cylinder, 6.9-liter diesel engine, which delivers a mammoth torque of 1,150 Nm over a wide range of 1,200 to 1,750 rpm . This unit is associated with a latest generation MAN Tipmatic ZF AStronic 12-speed transmission and a high-strength 4x4 off-road drive.
Passenger comfort has also been improved in hot climates, thanks to the integration of new air vents that distribute cold air more evenly and efficiently. Sound quality has also been improved thanks to the introduction of a separate Pioneer audio amplifier.
The interior...Inside, the PRAETORIAN benefits from a complete redesign of the driving environment. The update includes features such as a new dashboard, gear lever, buttons, switches and controls, as well as a new illuminated indicator panel.
Additional air vents have been integrated into the edges of the dashboard to prevent the windshield from fogging up in wet conditions, and new louvres have been installed to better deal with the glare of the desert sun. The introduction of an electric driving step further improves life for the person behind the wheel.
With the latest version, Torsus has significantly improved safety with the introduction of lane detection as well as light and rain sensor technology. Meanwhile, new side windows and rear-view mirrors provide greater visibility.
The maximum opening height of the front of the bus has been increased by approximately 30 cm to ensure greater access to service and maintenance tasks, such as filling fluids and changing air and cabin filters, while the washer fluid tank is breeze was repositioned for better access to the fueling point. A double closing mechanism has also been added to the front cover.
The price...Production of the third generation PRAETORIAN TG3 has already started at the Torsus plant in the Czech Republic and the vehicle is already in service in markets such as Spain, Germany and Ukraine. Pricing starts at 225,831 euros and the vehicle is available in Shell, Transporter and Minesite specifications. The MAN chassis and powertrain are fully guaranteed and can be repaired by all MAN suppliers anywhere in the world.
