HONDA CIVIC TYPE R BY MUGEN: COMPACTO JAPONÊS AGORA MAIS APIMENTADO

Civic Type R Mugen

This isn't the first time we've talked about Mugen, a Japanese tuner specializing in Honda models that has more than half a century of experience in the sector. Now, Mugen has focused its attention on the new Honda Civic Civic Type R and has just presented a very interesting aesthetic package.

The expert's design includes an updated body kit and some light performance tweaks. It should be noted that the preparer used advanced fluid dynamics programs to adjust all parts and offer excellent aerodynamic performance. This pack is offered in Japan, although Mugen has official distributors around the world.

The new features of the Civic Type R begin with an aggressive front spoiler finished in black, which combines with a series of accessories designed for the front bumper. Together they increase downforce at the front of the compact, while at the rear a huge, manually adjustable spoiler with carbon fiber components takes center stage.

In the side view, there are prominent skirts and new rear side dividers to complement the standard diffuser. Together, MUGEN's additions increase downforce by 25% and reduce weight by 10 kg. The improvements also include two special details at the rear, specific LED taillights and a single exhaust outlet.

As icing on the cake are 19-inch forged aluminum BBS wheels, which are lighter than the standard ones. Optionally, they can be accompanied by sows per race. As for the interior, the new racing seats designed by Recaro do not go unnoticed, to which are added a carbon fiber center console and an Alcantara gear knob.

In its parts list, Mugen includes upgraded shock absorbers and two types of high-performance brake pads: one for sport use and one for competition. The brakes will only be available at the end of July, but the shock absorbers are already available. The big spoiler will go on sale in September and the wheels in August. The single-tip exhaust comes later, with no specification of when.

Although there is an aerodynamic and weight improvement, the Type R by Mugen keeps the 2.0-liter turbocharged VTEC engine intact. It delivers a power of 329 hp at 6,500 rpm and 420 Nm of maximum torque between 2,600 and 4,000 rpm. It's not a problem either, after all, since 2023 the Japanese compact has been king of the Nürburgring.
