Mustang Shelby Super Snake 2024: the legendary American car receives important improvements

This week, Shelby American presented one of its main products, the brutal 2024 Shelby Super Snake. The new American car receives important improvements to its V8 engine, a more radical aesthetic and optimizations in the brakes, suspension and cooling. Only 250 copies will be manufactured for the United States and production will begin in the middle of the year. The price has not yet been disclosed.

One thing that is clear is that it won't be cheap. At an aesthetic level, some new elements stand out, such as a new aluminum hood, lips on the front bumper, carbon fiber fenders that redirect air to achieve maximum cooling and the carbon fiber rear spoiler. 

No less interesting are the new magnesium wheels, which reduce rotating mass.

The convertible version adds a tremendous amount of safety. As Vince La Violette, vice president of operations at Shelby American, highlights, Shelby American's first product based on the 2024 Ford Mustang is a monster both on the road and on the track. 

He further adds that, “through careful engineering, we were able to add much more power, while working to keep the weight more balanced.”

Under the hood of the 2024 Shelby Super Snake is a new Whipple compressor for the 5.0-liter V8 engine, among other engineering improvements. The result is a power of 841 hp (830 hp) which is sent directly to the rear axle through a 6-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic gearbox.

For those less brave, Shelby American also offers a more rational version, with 487 hp.

On a technical level, they include the increase in power, an adjusted suspension, a Borla exhaust system, high-performance brakes and an optimized cooling system. It comes with a three-year or 36,000-mile warranty.
