Absolute rarity: Ayrton Senna's red 1991 Honda NSX is for sale
Ayrton Senna played an important role in the development of the first generation Honda NSX. The legendary Brazilian driver tested the prototypes and gave his opinion to the engineers on how they could be improved. Honda sent him a few cars as part of the collaboration, and now one of them is for sale. But you need to have your pockets full.
The red 1991 Honda NSX that appears in the images recently appeared on AutoTrader in the United Kingdom, with a not insignificant selling price of 500,000 pounds sterling, something like 3.2 million reais(currency Brazil) at today's exchange rate. A much higher cost than normal examples with low mileage.
Senna's history with the car is obviously a key factor that makes this NSX special. According to the seller's description, the vehicle appeared in several photos with the racing driver.
The documentation that appears in the images indicates that the car was initially sent to Portugal for Senna's personal use. There it was acquired by its current owner, Robert McFagan.
“I first purchased the car in 2013 during a trip to the Algarve in Portugal and has since owned it, where it has sat proudly in my East Sussex estate,” he explained.
He added: “Senna’s red NSX was a gift from Honda, with whom he had a commercial association, and Senna used it frequently and was photographed with it during his stays in Portugal.”
As for the car itself, the ad says it has been driven 39,100 miles (almost 63,000 km). It's red with a black interior and, from the photos, it looks like it's in very good condition. The ad offers no details about the car, other than to say that it was owned by Senna and that it is already scheduled to be displayed at the Senna Exhibition in Silverstone at the end of August.
Therefore, the seller “would like the car to be removed after the exhibition closes”. This could be a good time to purchase a new Honda linked to a motorsport legend.
