Electric tractors manufactured by Foxconn
With the electric car market evolving at a good pace, manufacturers are now starting to look at other sectors to begin their electrification.
This is the case of agriculture, a sector considered traditional, but where technological innovations are beginning to gain traction.
To support the electrification of equipment in this sector, Foxconn began production of electric tractors at its new factory located in Lordstown, Ohio, having been acquired in 2021 for 230 million from Lordstown Motors.
Designed by the start-up Monarch, this electric tractor has an engine of 70 kW peak, 40 kW continuous, and an autonomy of more than 14 hours of work per charge.
To ensure safe operation, it has a rollover and collision prevention system, power take-off safety (PTO), person detection and 360º cameras that allow this tractor to be operated even at night.
Another great new feature is the fact that it can be used with and without a driver. To achieve this, it has driver assistance systems, as well as the possibility of carrying out pre-programmed tasks or gesture and shadow modes so that the tractor follows a worker in their tasks.
This electric tractor costs 50 thousand dollars, twice as much as a similar gasoline model, but which could make up for it both in cost reduction and in the automation of various tasks.
