CES 2024: Japanese brand will present its new range of electric vehicles at the Consumer Electronics Show

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which is organized annually in Las Vegas, began as the place where “only” new developments relating to all things electronic devices were revealed. But the vehicles became a regular visitor to the North American event, often stealing the attention from the other equipment in which electronics is the key word. Especially because modern cars, especially electric ones, often look like computers on wheels. Hence Honda's option, which will move the presentation of its new range of electric vehicles to the Nevada desert.

It is a fact that this Japanese manufacturer, although it was quick to respond to the fashion for hybrids and later electric vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells, was substantially less quick to adopt battery electric vehicle technology. With this announcement of the unveiling of a new range of models with zero emissions, it is quite possible that the Japanese brand will be able to catch up on a technology that has become decisive for success in several markets, from the United States of America to China, including Europe.

With the presence of the brand's CEO Toshihiro Mibe, Honda will reveal, in addition to the already mentioned new electric vehicles, what it calls “some key technologies” that will fuel the brand's transformation towards electrification. Among other focuses, the manufacturer aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 in all its activities, starting with production and not just in vehicle emissions.

With the new range of electric cars to be unveiled in January, Honda intends to start investing more decisively in non-polluting vehicles, regardless of whether they use energy stored in the battery or generated on board by hydrogen fuel cells. Embracing this strategy, the brand aims to increase the ratio of battery and fuel cell electric models, so that they represent all sales in 2040.
