Kia EV6 GT enfrentando um BMW M2

Kia EV6 GT vs BMW M2...Who won?

The latest version of the BMW M2 is a stylish sports car tailored for those who like to have fun behind the wheel. It is relatively compact, measuring 4.58 m in length, which allows it to be relatively light (1800 kg) and has a chassis designed to be efficient. To power this cocktail, which has exclusively rear-wheel drive, nothing better than an emblematic 3.0 supercharged engine with six cylinders in line, which transforms this three-volume, two-door coupé into a successor to the M3 E36 manufactured between 1992 and 1999. Except that Thanks to a turbocharger, the engine now delivers 460 hp and 550 Nm of torque, instead of the 286 hp of the M3 from 30 years ago.

Given this potential as a sports car, it is no easy task for the Kia EV6 to go head to head with the German coupé. To begin with, the EV6 is larger (4,695 m) and heavier (2,200 kg), the result of having a more generous cabin and trunk, a situation inherent to its status as a family saloon, moreover with a crossover orientation, that is, without fear of incursions. occasional dirt roads.

But the top of the range EV6 chosen for this confrontation is not just any electric car, as the GT mounts two electric motors, one per axle to ensure all-wheel drive, which add up to 585 hp, 125 hp more than its rival, the which the German car compensates by being 400 kg lighter, as the Kia weighs 2200 kg, partly due to the battery with a capacity of 77.4 kWh, compared to a 52 liter tank in the M2.

The head-to-head between the M2 and the EV6 GT was assembled by Edmund, a company specialized in the automotive industry, and consisted of what the organizers call “U Drag”, that is, a start up to 402 meters (1/4 of a mile), strong braking, two tight curves and a new acceleration of 402 meters. And the dispute promised to be balanced, as the BMW should have an advantage in braking and cornering, as it is lighter, while the Kia should be quicker to accelerate, as the EV6 GT needs 3.5 seconds to reach 100 km/h, while the M2 reaches this level 0.6 seconds later.

The maximum speed also favors the EV6 GT (260 km/h versus 250 km/h for the M2) and the range benefits the BMW, although less than one might think, since the M2's 52 liters should not allow it to travel 500 km/h. km, compared to the announced 424 km of the Kia. The time to “fill up” is also lower in the M2, although Kia claims 18 minutes to go from 0% to 80% battery charge, if powered at 240 kW. See the results of the match below:
