AUTONEWS
Those who accused Volkswagen trams of being sold at above-market prices can now purchase the ID.3 and ID.4 with a discount of €5,000 and the ID.5 for €6,000 less than the price proposed so far. The campaign is available until the end of February and aims to sell off the stock of the three battery-powered models.
The reason behind this strategy is the fact that the German brand decided to reposition the range of its electric vehicles at the beginning of 2024, replacing the previous Pro versions (58 useful kWh battery) and Pro S (77 kWh) with the City and Urban, which will be associated with the two battery capacities, that is, Pro City, Pro Urban, Pro S City and Pro S Urban. The City versions will now offer slightly less equipment, which they compensate for with a price of around €2,000 lower.
Volkswagen set up this campaign in which it mentions the discount and directs potential interested parties to contact the brand, instead of directly indicating the final price. But remembering the price of the latest version of the ID.3, launched in Portugal in July for €44,909, the compact tram will now cost around 39 thousand euros. This is in the Pro version, with a 204 hp engine, 58 kWk battery and a range of 434 km, with the benefits of the restyling introduced in mid-2023 and which is evident inside and out.
The VW ID.4 also enjoys a discount of €5,000, with the ID.5 offering greater advantages to those who wish to purchase the Pro and Pro S, instead of the City and Urban from 2024, with a reduction of €6,000. . For the German manufacturer, the creation of new versions with better value for money is an attempt to reinforce the competitiveness of these trams, whose sales volume continues to be below their potential and characteristics.
