Chevrolet Tracker will make its debut in the famous Brazilian Stock Car competition in 2025
Opal, Omega, Vectra, Sonic, Astra and Cruze. These were Chevrolet's consecutive representatives on the tracks throughout Stock Car's 44 years. All of these models have one characteristic in common: they are sedans. A tradition that will be broken from the 2025 season of the most famous motor sport category in the country.
This is because the Tracker was confirmed by Chevrolet as the brand's next candidate in Stock Car, which will only compete with SUVs, reflecting a market trend.
“SUVs already represent more than 40% of passenger vehicle sales and have evolved a lot in design, technology and vehicle dynamics. The Chevrolet Tracker is a reference in this sense, motivating the decision to also take it to the tracks. The aim is to bring even more excitement and appeal to the Stock Car”, highlighted Chris Rego, Marketing Director at GM South America.
Digital images of the Tracker Stock Car are being released. The physical vehicle as well as further details of the project will be shared in due course by the category organization and Chevrolet.
The Tracker will succeed the Cruze, which will end its cycle in 2024, after eight years and five titles won so far - it can win one more, for the season that ends on December 17th, in Interlagos.
In fact, Chevrolet is the most successful brand in Stock Car, having been champion 36 times, mainly due to the dedication of the most talented drivers, mechanics and teams present in the country.
Before the confirmation of the Tracker in the main category of national motorsport, the best-selling SUV in South America gained the RS version, with a sporting appeal, which will have special publicity at racetracks.
Many changes for Stock Car 2025...A new chapter of Brazilian motorsport is on the way. Stock Car anticipates characteristics of the future platform that will serve as the basis for vehicles that will compete from 2025 onwards.
It will be the most advanced racing car ever designed so far, built with specific steel, innovations in connectivity and data capture with a focus on performance and safety, as well as attributes to further raise the level of competitiveness. It will be faster and more stable. An example will be the adoption of the movable carbon fiber wing, the same concept used by Formula-1.
“This car is a watershed in our history. A lot of research and technology was used to create the safest, most performant and most technological car in our history. It will bring much more emotion, not only to the drivers, but also to our fans”, highlights Fernando Julianelli, CEO of Vicar, Stock Car promoter.
From a mechanical point of view, the current V8 engine will be replaced by a 2.1 turbo with a similar power range (500 hp), but it will gain a new transmission, chassis and suspension to make it lighter and more agile.
The Stock Car's electronic architecture will also be updated and will feature digital resources that will allow fans, for example, to follow the race from the perspective of the driver they want or seek an alternative viewing angle to check a specific battle for position.
