HYUNDAI

ASSIM É O REVOLUCIONÁRIO HYUNDAI SANTA FE PARA OS ESTADOS UNIDOS

Hyundai Santa Fe 2024

Certainly many things can change in 20 years. This is the case of the Hyundai Santa Fe, the Korean brand's flagship, which just three months ago surprised the world with the reveal of the outfit it will use to live its 5th generation. Now we know it in its continental presentation, at the Los Angeles Motor Show, the century-old fair on the west coast of the United States.

Just as it appears in the images, the Hyundai Santa Fe is a genuine revolution, in relation to its previous generation and even more so to the initial three. The Korean SUV has always been presented as a vehicle with very traditional lines, almost without deviating from what was also offered by the competition. This time the Santa Fe - which retains Hyundai's N3 platform - is not only larger, reaching 4,830 mm in length, but also completely innovates in terms of aesthetics.

The brand's oldest SUV (outperforms the Tucson by four years) adopts a body with straight lines, which is characterized by a short front overhang, as well as its hood. Of note is the renewed design of the H-shaped front and rear lights, a pattern that is repeated in the lower area of the front bumper, two features that in a certain way reinterpret Hyundai's 'H' emblem. Seen from behind, what stands out most is not the reiteration of the aforementioned H designs, but the almost round shape that ends up being formed by the sides and also the straight drop of the lid, very much in the style of classic 4x4s with a vertical hinge opening.

As for the mechanical part, this Santa Fe, which for the North American market will be manufactured in Alabama, will be powered by a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with turbo. It develops 230 hp and 422 Nm of torque between 1,700 and 4,000 rpm, coupled to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Later on, the company will add a conventional hybrid alternative, with a 1.6-liter turbo engine associated with an AT6 transmission. It will produce 232 hp and 367 Nm of torque. As for diesel engines, as has been known since August, this time there will be no such alternative.
