Kawasaki Ninja e-1 and Z e-1: new line Kawasaki electric
Kawasaki is set to unveil its highly anticipated electric street bikes, the Ninja e-1 and Z e-1, soon, as confirmed by the latest homologation filed in Australia.
The Ninja e-1 and Z e-1 retained the 400 series bodywork.
Interestingly, Australian homologation data reveals a net engine output of 9 kW (12.1 hp) lower than that previously mentioned. These models will have a wheelbase of 1,369 mm, which is in line with the dimensions of the Z400 and Ninja 400.
However, the most intriguing aspect is the listed weights. According to the documentation, the Z e-1 has a certified weight of 135 kg, while the Ninja e-1 is slightly heavier at 140 kg.
It remains unclear whether these weights include batteries. The Japanese company’s initial statement revealed plans for each electric model to include two removable batteries, weighing around 12 kg, with a combined capacity of 3 kWh.
As the excitement surrounding the upcoming release of the Ninja e-1 and Z e-1 continues to build, Kawasaki has more exciting surprises up its sleeve. These electric models are just the first step in plans to promote machines with alternative fuels. The hybrid model is expected to go on sale as part of the 2024 model range.
