BAC Mono 2024
There's no purer sports car than the BAC Mono, which showed up at Monterey Car Week 2023 in an updated configuration. The car has been given subtle design touches influenced by the Mono R and now has a slightly curvier look.
It has main LED headlights mounted in the center of the front part, in addition to the usual ones on the sides, while the rear part houses an optimized aerodynamic airfoil that extends over the tires.
The heart of the BAC Mono 2024 is a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter engine from Ford and modified by Mountune, which produces 315 hp and 313 Nm of torque. It represents an increase of 6 hp and 5 Nm in a track-focused machine that weighs just 570 kilos, 10 kg less than before.
The 4-cylinder gasoline engine sends power to the rear wheels via a 6-speed sequential transmission with paddles on the steering wheel and configurable gear ratios.
BAC claims the updated Mono accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds, a tenth less than before, making it one of the fastest internal combustion engine road cars in history.
With a front/rear weight distribution of 41:59, the Mono remains one of the best ways to have fun. It is available with a variety of Pirelli tires, including a Trofeo R tire designed specifically for the Mono. Further suspension and chassis upgrades improved the handling. Meanwhile, new parts have been added to the intake system made of carbon fiber that make them lighter and stronger than the previous ones.
In 2024, BAC will introduce a turbocharged version that is expected to use an adaptation of Ford's 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine that powers the Focus ST. This will allow Briggs Automotive Company to sell the car in markets with strict emissions regulations.
Meanwhile, production of the latest Mono has already started in Liverpool and BAC are proud to report that they have received orders from all over the world. The first deliveries are scheduled for after Monterey Car Week, which ended today (08/20).
