Skoda Roadiaq: the convertible SUV
Last April, Skoda showed a preview of its new car created by students from Skoda's training school, the Skoda Vocational School, which, as each year, accompanies a group of students who take several months and more than 2,000 hours concept to present a project.
This unique car, called the Skoda Roadiaq, is based on the electric Skoda Enyaq and is Skoda's ninth Azubi project. On this occasion, a total of 29 students participated in its creation, who converted the Czech SUV into a very interesting recreational vehicle.
As usual, this is a one-off that will not go into production, but it seems logical that the students have chosen to prepare the Enyaq, given that in recent times we have experienced the peak of this type of preparation, which allows you to spend the night in the vehicle.
This Roadiaq is the first electric vehicle modified by Skoda school students, but not the first SUV, as the Sunroq, Mountiaq and Afriq also used crossovers from the Czech brand's catalog as a basis.
The project, designed for digital nomads, started with an all-wheel drive Enyaq 80x Sportline as the base vehicle, which was then painted in Emerald Green and Moon White, and fitted with large 21-inch diameter Supernova wheels.
Remembering that this version of the electric SUV uses two electric motors, to add a total of 265 hp of power and 425 Nm of torque, offering up to 495 kilometers of autonomy thanks to its 77 kWh battery capacity.
The Roadiaq does not lack for details, as it includes a large 27-inch monitor that can be associated with a tablet, internet connection, wireless mouse and keyboard, all types of sockets and charging plugs, kitchen utensils (pans, pots , plates, glasses...), tables and chairs, camping equipment, a 12V coffee maker, a 'wireless' speaker, a flashlight and a 'survival kit', for example.
The Skoda Roadiaq maintains the Enyaq's 4.65 meters in length and 1.88 meters in width, although its wheelbase has grown slightly to 2.77 meters, the ground clearance is now 19 centimeters and the overall height reaches the 2.05 meters, that is, 35 centimeters more than the standard model, due to the ceiling module that is installed.
This roof module manages to significantly increase the interior space to be able to equip all the elements present in the passenger compartment, which are the true protagonists of the project. From a bed for one person to a kitchen, everything is made with 100% recycled materials, according to the manufacturer.
Of course, a model like this in Skoda's conventional lineup would be a real 'hit' and an immediate purchase for many customers, but like all previous projects by the brand's students, this Roadiaq is a unique example that we will not see in dealerships.
