Tudor Pelagos FXD and FXD Chrono Alinghi Red Bull Racing Editions
Rolex's "little brother" Tudor has a relationship with the French Navy (Marine Nationale) going back nearly 70 years, and their latest model for them is the Pelagos FXD - fixed i.e. integrated strap - watch of diving presented in 2021.
One, or more precisely, two new editions of Red Bull Racing have been made from this – at first we would think Formula 1, but here we are talking about another Geneva-based Alinghi team taking part in the America's Cup sailing race. (Formula 1 Red Bull cooperates with TAG Heuer anyway.)
The Tudor Pelagos FXD and FXD Chrono Alinghi Red Bull Racing Editions share a water resistance of 200m, a carbon fiber case, a titanium bi-directional rotating bezel with a carbon fiber reverse numbered insert ring, a sapphire crystal, a screw-down titanium case back and a one-piece velcro “Marine” Nationale” textile bracelet, but while the first is a simple 42 mm diameter watch with three undated hands, the second is a 43 mm date chronograph – i.e. with a stopwatch function – with two sub-dials.
In addition to the name, the Red Bull character can be seen in the red color that appears on the dial and bracelet, on the ring that surrounds the inner dial, the so-called The Red Bull Racing inscription can be read on the rehaut , and the back is engraved with the team logo.
Among the new luxury boat watches, the Swiss manufacturer asks 3,650 euros (1.36 million HUF) for the simplest piece – this is less than the 4,000 euros price of the “simple” Pelagos with titanium case – while for the Red Bull chronograph, which offers extra complications, 5,070 euros (HUF 1.9 million) must be paid.
