Golf Country Delta 4x4: the compact off-road monster
The Delta 4x4 tuner presented a reinterpretation of the mythical Golf Country based on the five-door Golf VIII R.
Since the 1980s, the Delta 4x4 team has focused on optimizing all-wheel drive vehicles to improve their off-road capabilities, and while the Golf isn't among the models they tend to pay attention to, the idea of reinterpreting the Golf Country isn't far-fetched.
Golf Country has been compared to Quentin Tarantino's early films: a box office failure but an absolute cult object among fanatics. At that time, only 7,735 examples of the Golf Country were sold, which represented approximately 0.12% of all Golf IIs that hit the streets. It was very expensive and few people saw any use in it.
As the basis for this impressive reinterpretation, Delta 4x4 has taken a Volkswagen Golf R with all-wheel drive. With a lift kit, the trainer increased the ground clearance by 80 mm. This allows this reinterpretation to reach figures similar to those of the Golf Country.
The tuner installed eye-catching fenders, impressive 18-inch Hanma wheels with off-road tires, hood-mounted rally-style LED PIAA headlights and a handy rack that definitely adds a touch of flair.
Currently, this vehicle is still a concept, but it is viable and complies with TÜV standards, so its homologation would be more than feasible.
Delta 4x4 has promised that if there are enough interested parties, it will launch a limited series of 25 vehicles on the market.
The German coach didn't say anything about prices, but they did point out that this conversion could cost around 35,000 euros, to which one must logically add the Golf R that is used as a base and for which the German brand is asking for several tens of thousands of euros. additional euros.
The development process to completion will take between 6 and 9 months.
