Toyota GR86 Trueno Edition

The Toyota GR86 is itself a spiritual heir to the iconic Toyota AE86 of the 1980s. A dynamic, light and sporty car that can be had for a contained price. Nothing equals the value for money of the GR86 and with the new special edition Toyota GR86 Trueno Edition, the Japanese brand pays homage to the model's forebears, while adding even more value and exclusivity to the four-seat coupe.

It is a limited edition that includes many details inspired by the mythical AE86, which this year celebrates the 40th anniversary of its market launch in 1983. For example, the body graphics and color combination are a clear nod to the classic hatchback , while in the chassis part there are some specific details that try to improve the performance of the GR 86 both on and off the track.

Limited to just 860 examples, the Toyota GR86 Trueno Edition is finished in white and features a black bonnet that matches the black stripes on the bottom of the doors. The mirrors and door handles are also black, as well as the rear spoiler and the 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, which display a dark tone. This color combination is called Halo and Toyota has confirmed that there will be another color called Track bRed, although there are no images for now.

Inside the GR86 Trueno Edition we find sports seats upholstered in Alcantara with red leather, matching the gear lever stitching and the leather-wrapped steering wheel. The gearshift knob features the Trueno Edition logo, as do the floor mats. It retains the 8.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as an eight-speaker premium sound system.

A series-specific Performance Pack has also been added to this special edition. It comprises ZF SACHS shock absorbers filled with nitrogen and high pressure oil, designed to absorb vibrations, maximize ground contact and improve steering response and ride comfort. There are also four-piston red-finished Brembo front brake calipers, as well as two-piston rear brake calipers.

Mechanically there are no surprises. The Toyota GR86 Trueno Edition continues to bet on the same naturally aspirated boxer mechanics, 4 cylinders and 2.4 liters. It develops 234 hp of power at 7,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque, managed by a 6-speed manual transmission or an automatic gearbox.
