KIA Tasman 2024: the pick-up that will play a strategic role in the Korean brand's portfolio
Within the KIA release calendar for next year, it seems that there will be a big surprise, a pick-up that could be called Tasman, a name already registered in different patent offices, such as Uruguay, Costa Rica and France.
This pick-up has been in development since 2020 and will play a strategic role in the Korean brand's portfolio in various markets. The project is led by the headquarters in South Korea, although it is counting on the collaboration of experts from Australia.
In fact, Australia could be one of the first to receive this model, given the importance of this segment in that country. Subsequently, markets in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America will also be served.
According to rumors, the new KIA Tasman 2024 will have enough attributes to compete with the most important rivals, including the segment sales leader, namely the Toyota Hilux, as well as outstanding models such as the Ford Ranger and the Mitsubishi L200.
Probably this new Korean pick-up will be supported on a chassis with stringers and crossbeams, as required by the canons, and will be offered with a single and double cabin. The traction can be rear or 4x4, depending on the version.
Another outstanding aspect will be the engine. At this point, KIA will bet on the adoption of a turbodiesel engine (not yet revealed), ideal for achieving good towing capacity and also an outstanding payload. Taking into account the figures for the segment, 3,500 and 1,000 kilos are expected, respectively.
Details about the design are kept secret, as the test units discovered, in addition to being camouflaged, did not have the definitive bodywork. It is normal for Tasman to adopt aesthetic solutions from Telluride, Sportage and Seltos.
In fact, in the recreation that appears in the image, the pick-up displays the front part of the Telluride itself, characterized by the Tiger Nose corporate grille, but of great size. The truth is that a vehicle like this with the KIA emblem will be very surprising.
