M 1000 XR is already in the final stages of development

The letter M is synonymous across the globe with racing success and the dazzling performance of BMW high-performance vehicles.

Incorporated into BMW Motorrad in 2019, the M represents the pinnacle of performance on two wheels and is about to gain another option, now for those looking for a fast and sophisticated model to face long distances on the road.

After the launch of the M 1000 R and the M 1000 RR, the M 1000 XR is in the final stages of development. The model, like others in the XR family, values a more comfortable ride and for long distances, but has performance at its most extreme level as its main attraction.

The prototype, presented in the year that BMW Motorrad completes 100 years of history on two wheels, is full of M items to perform impressively. The in-line four-cylinder engine and BMW ShiftCam technology has 202 horsepower and takes the motorcycle to a maximum speed of 280 km/h.

Weighing only 223 kg, the M 1000 XR Prototype combines technologies to obtain the best performance on roads and tracks. The brakes, for example, are the same used on motorcycles competing in the Superbike World Championship. There are also several electronic and aerodynamic attributes so that the model can obtain maximum performance. New information about the BMW M 1000 XR will be released throughout 2023.
