Elon Musk sees dark times
Tesla CEO Elon Musk warned on Tuesday that the electric vehicle maker was not immune to the global economic situation, which he said would be difficult over the next 12 months.
"Tesla is not immune to the global economic environment. The expectation is that things will be difficult on a macroeconomic level for at least the next 12 months," said the billionaire, at the company's annual shareholder meeting in Austin, in the north state. Texas American.
At the meeting, shareholders voted to nominate the company's co-founder and former chief technology officer, JB Straubel, to the board. The consultancy Glass Lewis had recommended investors to vote against Straubel's appointment, citing concerns about his independence.
Shareholders also rejected a proposal to publish a report to set out succession plans for Musk.
The executive is under pressure to address investor concerns about the lack of a clear successor, as well as questions about reduced demand, delays of some new models and the billionaire's involvement in Twitter, the social network he acquired in October.
